Working at B&Co

Sandra Stals
After a career as top sportswoman, I commenced at B&Co in September 2006 as medical representative. I found it a big transition to go from practicing a sport all day to working all day. I was a bit afraid of this transition at first but after a few months I found my footing, also because it is not a classic nine to five job. As medical representative of therapeutic lasers I work in the whole of the BENELUX, which adds a lot of variety to my job. I can say that I have great colleagues that help and support each other when required. The atmosphere within the business is very pleasant and I think it’s great that everyone knows each other.

When I started at B&Co in 1996, there were 9 people working there. Today, more than 10 years later, there are forty of us, spread over various departments.
This relatively short-time evolution is evidence of the enormous dynamism that is characteristic of the company. This must inevitably be accompanied by employees constantly calling matters into question.
Every year, new products are distributed, new medical-aesthetic specialities are encountered. One must undergo continuous training and follow the evolution of both the market and the competitors. It is impossible to rest on one’s laurels.
The work is very varied. Over and above that, there are the purely commercial visits to the customers to inform them, advise them and to sell, and we also play a very important role in the after-sales service: in hospitals we help train our customers, but also in the field of marketing, we help them sell the products to their patients.
That is why, after 10 years, it is still very motivating to work for such a dynamic company.
dynamique.

As one of the first employees I have seen Lasermedico grow to the current B&Co. The increase in personnel has meant the familial atmosphere of the early days has had to make way for a more professional, although warm, collegiality.
This atmosphere at work, the large diversity in tasks and the frequent contact with clients, ensure that my job within logistics remains pleasant and interesting.

I commenced at Lasermedico in 1990 and have experienced the real pioneering days with Bob (CEO). In the intervening years we have seriously grown, modernised the organisation, realised a structure with 5 divisions and changed the group name to B&Co. After 17 years and various roles later I still really enjoy working at B&Co. My main motivator is still expansion of the business while retaining the friendly cooperation of the early days. This is not always easy when there is continued and fast growth, but has worked out so far with the current group.

I commenced with B&Co at the start of 2004, when it was called Orthomedico, and the Hospital division was just being established. This later became Hospital Innovations. I thought it would be a real challenge to help shape the new division. In the meantime we are almost 4 years on. What I especially enjoy is that I am now on the other side in the same operation department as my previous job. I therefore understand the work that my colleagues in the operation room do, because I have worked there too. Now though, I find myself in all the hospitals in the Benelux. This makes the job very interesting and provides a lot of variety. You continuously meet new people and see different customs. Together with my colleagues we are a tight team. The term teamspirit is not just a loose term. Our business is growing fast; unfortunately the familial atmosphere is not the same as when I began. This is not something you can really expect when a business keeps growing. However, everyone really tries hard to retain the convivial atmosphere.
